What makes Atlas Foundry different from other Gray Iron foundries with similar capabilities?
The experience gained by successfully operating a foundry under the same ownership and management for over 100 years and Atlas Foundry's state-of-the-art Disamatic equipment sets us apart from most competitors that often use Hunter molding systems.
What is the difference between Disamatic molding and Hunter molding?
There several major differences between the Disamatic and Hunter molding systems including the molding method and the number of molds per hour each system can produce.
- Disamatic machines produce vertically parted molds while the Hunter machines produce horizontally parted molds.
- Disamatic machines can produce between 350 - 400 molds per hour while Hunter machines can only produce ~120 molds per hour.
- Disamatic machines produce a hard mold surface around the mold cavity that provides closer part tolerances than Hunter machines or other conventional molding machines.
Atlas Foundry runs only Disamatic molding systems.
